Overview

I collaborate with business partners to articulate the product vision:

  • Participate in the product design process to analyze user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

  • Conduct user interviews, surveys, and other research.

  • Identify application tasks and workflows and interpret complex data.

  • Design prototypes, annotated wireframes, and mockups.

  • Create UX documentation including style guides, interaction specifications, and information architecture flows.

I help my clients help their clients.

Product Testing for a New Product

Product Design Research

  • Goal:
Test new product interest with clients by showing possible business ideas.

  • Solution:
Create a clickable prototype for use in customer interviews, showing product features and pricing. The comments and suggestions elicited were used to shape the product. And though not a usability study, the prototype also identified user perceptions, which were applied to the actual screen design.

  • Result:
    Product is in development.

New Product Integration

UX Design

  • Goal:
Integrate the new product into an existing platform, with cross-functionality that is intuitive for users and feasible for implementation.

  • Solution:
Simulate the user experience flows and product feature screens through clickable wireframes. This involved conceptualizing functions that do not yet exist, with different scenarios for new and existing users.

  • Result:
The user experience design concepts uncovered redesign needs for the existing platform. Screens are being redesigned before the new product screens can be integrated.

Polling Tool

Product/UX Design

  • Goal:
Provide business with a polling tool to quickly research customer opinions on various market topics.

  • Solution:
Design an Administration area for product owners to easily post and manage the polls. After identifying the technology and user requirements, the user experience was designed.

  • Result:
The poll gets a high response rate from clients.

Product Development

Product/UX Design

  • Goal:
As part a new product launch, Model Market Center, make it easier for advisors to select models for their clients' portfolios.

  • Solution:
Design a decision-tree wizard to streamline filtering a large universe of models, by identifying selection criteria and matching relevant attributes.

  • Result:
Product was successfully launched, although the wizard was not included due to compliance requirements.

Application Search

Information Architecture & UX Design

search2.png
  • Goal:
Design an application search function to streamline workflows for users, by reducing the amount of navigating and filtering.

  • Solution:
Analyzed the steps to be reduced and identified possible search points and results. Designed a UX prototype to simulate how the user can search directly by specific entity or type, with results providing context-sensitive functions.

  • Result:
The prototype provided product and technology the ability to determine the scope.

Design & Technology Modernization

UX/UI Design

  • Goal:
Use the advantages of angular frameworks to improve the user interface.  To enable quick editing of complex details without losing context, employed a sidebar component.

  • Solution:
Rather than navigating to another screen, a sidebar slides out, presenting details of a selected record. Design work included analysis of links and functions, which previously opened other screens or modals, identifying behavior and interaction relationships between base and sidebar screens, and UX design.

  • Result:
Early user research is showing satisfaction.
